Live-In Lithuanian-Speaking Dementia Caregiver – Las Vegas Our family is seeking a caring, patient and experienced live-in caregiver for our mother, who has late-stage dementia/Alzheimer's disease. Lithuanian language is a MUST Our mother is Lithuanian-speaking, so fluent Lithuanian is required. Being able to communicate with her in her native language is extremely important to us. An important part of the job: maintaining her daytime schedule Our mother sleeps well during the night, which is very important to maintaining her quality of life and keeping her daily routine stable. She tends to become sleepy during the day, so the caregiver must actively keep her awake and engaged during daytime hours. This is a very important responsibility of the position. The caregiver should encourage her to: Get up in the morning and stay out of bed during the day Eat regular meals Walk and move around safely Participate in simple activities and conversation Spend time outside or in other areas of the home when appropriate Avoid taking long daytime naps Keeping her awake during the day is a MUST because allowing her to sleep for extended periods during the day can shift her sleep schedule and cause her to be awake at night. Our goal is to maintain a consistent daytime/nighttime routine so that she continues sleeping through the night. Care responsibilities may include: Companionship and supervision Keeping her awake and engaged during the day Assistance with bathing and dressing Toileting and incontinence care Preparing meals and assisting with eating Medication reminders/assistance according to her care plan Walking and mobility assistance Fall and wandering prevention Providing reassurance when she becomes confused or anxious Maintaining a consistent daily routine Light housekeeping related to her care Communicating with the family about changes in her behavior or condition Ideal caregiver Fluent Lithuanian speaker – REQUIRED Experience caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or advanced dementia – strongly preferred Comfortable with bathing, toileting and personal care Patient, kind and energetic Comfortable keeping a dementia patient awake and engaged during the daytime Reliable and trustworthy Comfortable living in a private family home Able to provide references Legally authorized to work in the United States Live-in arrangement The caregiver will have a private living space in our home. This is a live-in position, but the caregiver will have appropriate off-duty/private time. The primary caregiving responsibility is during the hours when our mother is awake and needs supervision and assistance. Pay: $20/hour, depending on experience and qualifications, with private living accommodations provided.
